Owosso Woolen Mills

Owosso, Michigan

This large 1868 bond for the Owosso Woolen Manufacturing Company includes a nice embossed seal, with revenue stamp affixed and all of its interest coupons are still attached.

Morris Osburn of Pontiac moved to Owosso and owned the Gould-Osburn sawmill in the 1860s and was also involved in the Owosso Woolen Mills which burned twice and went out of business in 1871. The second woolen mill had been rebuilt by the government to make uniforms for the Union Army in 1864.
